The family history of the Beauregard ancestors followed many routes throughout North America and are listed below.
The Beauregard surname is derived from Andre' JARRET, Sieur de Beauregard, born ca. August, 1642. He arrived about 1665 in New France and is reputed to be a lieutenant in the Carignan Regiment, Contrecoeur Company, under Captain Antoine PECAUDY (his step uncle). His step brother was Francois JARRET, Sieur de Vercheres.
The oldest North American ancestor was Abraham MARTIN for whom the Plains of Abraham were named above the city of Quebec, PQ. He was a master pilot. REF: Rene Jette & Tanguay.
Abraham Martin, Margeurite Langlois and family arrived Aug 30, 1619 A.D. at Tadoussac, PQ.
Questions about the MARIE JOSEPHTE REAUME connection to Rene REAUME in Irenee Lussier's book, "Dictionnaire National des Canadiens Francais":Were her parents really Rene REAUME and Marie GUYON as shown under Jacques DROLET & M. Dumoulin-REAUME on p 420 in Lussier's book? Which M. Joseph RHEAUME married Jacques DROLET at Beauport in Tanguay's book? Since Jacques of BECANCOUR was listed as 'feu' at the weddings of his children at St Anne de Varennes during the entire 1770s, did this M. J. REAUME remarry after Jacques died? Yes, the PRDH says to Francois Raymond(Reaume?) Chesne Lagrave at Becancour on March 17, 1758. She refers to herself as REAUME / DUMOULIN and HUMADE during her life. At her son J.B.'s baptism it says, "jean Batiste fil de jaque drolet et damare josephe da HUMATE Sa mere. le parrain a etes joseph Saint pierre et La ma ainne magdeleine moriSseau" Madeleine signed as moriso. Joseph was the son of Pierre St.Pierre and Marie Gagnon that married on 27-07-1712 Riviere Ouelle. Joseph was born Dec 3, 1715 La Pocatiere. He has a sister Marie Josephe St. P'.born on Jan 16, 1718. Their brother was Gabriel ST. PIERRE. In the PRDH it says Gabriel MARANDA was her adopted father and present at the notary along with 17 DROLET guests. Gabriel was also listed as "econome de la ferme des dames de desmaures" 4 unknowns attended: Frse Glinel and her daughter Therese Lamot, and Claude Minguy / MINGOU / MAINGUY and his wife Marguerite PAYANT. It seems that MJ's real name was not Reaume Dumoulin but most likey was something like Marie Josephte / Josephe Da Humade / Hunaude / Huneault / Henault. After her kids marry at St. Anne de Varennes, one finds a Marie REAUMEas the spouse of Louis CHEVALIER, and she died at the age of 70 years on Feb 20, 1787? Did Rene REAUME and Marie GUYON have a second daughter named M. J. REAUME? Why wasn't there more information about Reaumes and Drolets at Nativity, BECANCOUR? Why did she initially call herself two different surnames, REAUME DUMOULIN and HUMADE, at the wedding and notary? At JB's birth the priest wrote HUMATE but she later starts using REAUME again at her kids weddings. But she married CHESSNE? Any HELP with this strange connection would be appreciated. Notary records? Civil records? Adoption or civil court records, criminal records?
The oldest ancestor traced directly along the BEAUREGARD surname was Barthelemy HUGON dit JARRET, born before 1440 A.D. at the end of the Middle Ages.
